The Museum Depot and Limiting Beliefs

Is there something you want to change about the way you show up, yet seem somehow unable to?

Then here's a quick hypnotherapy technique to help you change not-very-useful (i.e. lousy) beliefs about yourself.

Let's say, for example, that you want to expand your business, but you very solidly believe (and keep telling yourself) that you are a lousy manager. Or can't delegate. Or both.

That underlying belief is going to taint all your efforts in hiring and managing other humans to help your business grow.

It's best to let go of it before you try to grow - and here's how.

Sit yourself in your favourite comfy corner and close your eyes.

Now listen to the thought you want to change, for example, "I'll never learn how to delegate.".

Notice where you hear the thought.

Is it in the back of your head, the front, the top, or somewhere outside it?

Wheverever it is, next, imagine hearing it at least a school bus' distance further away from you.

Notice what that is like - how it makes it seem rather irrelevant and impotent.

Now the schoolbus distance will already do the trick in alerting your brain to the fact that you no longer subscribe to this belief.

But if you're the ambitious type (hi there!) or you're quite enjoying this whole visualisation thing we've got going, then you can take it to the next level by imagining a bin.

It can be a gorgeous ornamental antique bin, it can be your basic common garden variety - I'll leave that up to you.

Visualise your bin, and imagine floating the thought into it.

Then listen.

You may still hear a muffled sound - or nothing at all.

Done.

You're welcome.

Now go do that thing that you used to believe you weren't capable of.

P.S. This bin is actually for sale in the Dutch Museum Depot. This website sells off pieces museums no longer want to hold on to and is a super fun rabbit hole to go down into (after you've done the visualization, of course): https://lnkd.in/gHyDUDdq
