Stop fighting the rain

***Stop fighting the rain***

Are you wondering where all your energy goes?

Why you feel so exhausted?

Here's the answer - though you may not like it.

It's completely depleted by your fight with reality.

Before you dismiss that notion, here's a quick test.

Do you ever catch yourself thinking:

"It shouldn't be this way"

"This isn't fair"

"I should be more [insert desirable adjective]"

"I can't believe this"

"I'm surrounded by amateurs/idiots/incompetents"

or similar sentiments?

Them you ARE arguing with reality.

You're fighting the rain.

Whether you like it or not:

Things ARE this way.

You ARE the way you are.

People do the things they do.

Your ongoing frustration and fury about this is incredibly ineffective - unless you harness it into positive change.

So rather than raging about office politics, injustice, or whatever happens to tick you off, try simply accepting it as a current given.

Not condoning it - simply accepting that, right now, this is the way things are.

Allow yourself to feel the emotions this evokes, maybe vent a little, but then move on. Don't get stuck in infinite thought loops about how the world should be different.

Accept that there are things in this world that you are not currently in control of.

And focus on what you CAN control.

Stop fighting the rain - pick the useful battles. And notice the massive difference this makes to your energy.
