Self-Improvement Sucks

You don’t need to improve your ‘Self’.

You don’t need to improve your ‘Self’.

Self-improvement sucks.

Why?

Short version: it reinforces the idea that there’s something wrong with you.

Longer version: it tells you that you need to fix your SELF.

Which is a great way to

a. Make you feel bad

b. Sell you on stuff you don’t need

c. Keep you on the hamster wheel of performing for approval

Newsflash: your Self is perfect as it is.

It needs zero improvement.

Habits, choices, skills - now those you may want to improve.

But it makes a huge difference if you do it from self-love instead of the idea that you are ‘bad’ and need to be ‘better’.

Imagine you’re perfect and have everything you need - now what do you want to change in your life?

What would be fun?

Delightful?

Amazing?

Figure that out and make a plan from the place where you love yourself as you are instead of some future fantasy.

It keeps you grounded in the present moment - which also happens to be the only place you can take action from.

Don’t improve your Self - improve the way you think about your life and what you’d like to do.
