Why you need to do a belief audit

If your thoughts shape your reality, why aren't you flying through the sky with fancy rainbow wings?

OK smart humans,

Here’s this week’s main Friday thought:

Our thoughts co-create our reality.

Not because of some’ secret’.

It’s because of how our brains work.

They filter out everything that is deemed unnecessary for survival.

And they guide us using that same very limited data-input.

In other words: confirmation bias filters our input and influences our output.

That same confirmation bias can be loosely defined as the collection of thoughts we think on a regular basis.

In other words, our beliefs.

Pretty insane, right?

Our beliefs shape our experience, our thoughts, our actions in the world, and what we create with them.

Does this mean that you now get to beat yourself up because you’ve created a crappy reality?

Nope.

Self-flagellation is not constructive and not allowed.

But it IS a good idea to check your beliefs.

No, this does not mean you need to immediately find all the sucky thoughts and then decide you need to get a brain-wash.

There’s probably some pretty good stuff in there too.

I mean, you’re still around in this crazy decade on this crazy planet. You made it through a global pandemic. That's pretty huge.

No, instead of just focusing on the bad, this weekend, I want you to do an honest audit.

Like a decent accountant would.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Do a Belief Audit to unearth the beliefs creating your reality.

To help you, here are some examples of thoughts that can live in your brain:

  1. People can’t be trusted.

  2. I am so grateful for the work I do.

  3. Corporate politics is hell.

  4. I love living in an age with so many opportunities.

  5. Life is hard for someone with a brain like mine.

  6. It’s OK if it doesn’t work the first time round, I can always try again.

  7. Rich people are bad people.

  8. I love that I woke up this morning.

  9. I’m too old.

Just try those sentences out in your head, and notice what happens in your body.

Massive difference, right?

You’ve just influenced reality with your thought. Ha!

Now that you have recovered your magical powers, it’s time to unearth your own belief systems.

And to make that easier, you can look at what you’ve created.

What are the beliefs that got you where you are right now?

What has got you through school, further education, work, love, life? What beliefs have created your home, your loved ones, your failures, your achievements?

Here’s a personal example.

In the picture above, you can see me on a stage with my amazing peers, in Austin, Texas. We’re being honoured for becoming a Master Coach (if you can't find me, look for the polkadots).

What beliefs got me on the journey to becoming a coach, then on to becoming a Master Certified Coach and on to that stage?

Well, here’s a couple:

  • I love a challenge.

  • I can achieve anything I want.

  • I am willing to do scary things.

  • I am going to be the best possible coach for smart humans.

These are some of my very powerful beliefs, creating a fun and powerful reality.

And of course I still have limiting beliefs too, like:

  • There’s never enough time.

  • My website doesn’t look professional enough.

  • I have nothing original to say.

So my work, just like yours, is twofold.

  1. Amplify the beliefs that get me results I like.

  2. Challenge, and, if necessary, replace the beliefs that sabotage me.

This is the deep work I do with my clients.

Magically changing their reality by using the way their brain works FOR them instead of against them.

If this is something you’re ready for (and believe me, it is intense, but so worth it and also so much FUN), then book a free exploratory consult using this link: https://calendly.com/else-kramer/explore

Gift yourself the time and space to do a Belief Audit this Easter - it’s going to be well worth it.

Have a great weekend,

Else a.k.a. Coach Kramer
